Kimberly Tellus
A native Nebraskan hailing from the town of Cambridge, Kimberly received her Nanny Certification from the Bryan Nanny School in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1988. Moving to the northeast shortly thereafter, she has had extensive experience working for several families in New Jersey and New York. Kimberly maintains a strong relationship with several of these families today. After being a full-time nanny for seven years, and living in financially-minded New York City, Kimberly decided to enter the business world. She joined John J. Grogan and Associates, a real estate management company, as a full-time Assistant Transfer Agent. Children were still part of her life, however, as she simultaneously worked one day a week at Rhythm and Glues, a parent/toddler program for music, arts and crafts. Always seeking to learn and improve her skill sets, she left John J. Grogan Associates and took a position with Waterhouse Securities, in their Retirement Plan Division. Kimberly also enrolled as a full-time evening student at Fordham University, subsequently taking an administrative position at the law school. Kimberly successfully completed a BA in Sociology from Fordham University, in 1998. Kimberly continued her education by taking several graduate courses in early childhood education at The Bank Street College, in New York City. It was her always present love for children and an interest in education that initially led her to the teaching profession. From 1999-2000, Kimberly taught two and three year olds at the Episcopal School, a traditional preschool environment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Presented with an opportunity to widen her teaching experiences, Kimberly taught at The Manhattan Country School, a progressive school that prides itself on its racial and cultural diversity, where she taught four and five-year olds from 2002-2003. Kimberly then moved her teaching skills across town to the Riverside Church Weekday School, a progressive academic program located within the historic confines of the church campus on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where she taught three year olds from 2003-06. Never short on energy or her commitment to children, Kimberly also taught in the after-school enrichment programs at each of her private schools. In addition to the National Association for Nanny Care (NANC), Kimberly is a member of the Association of Teachers in Independent Schools (ATIS), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the International Nanny Association (INA), and the Association of Premier Nanny Agencies (APNA). Drawing upon her past teaching experiences, Kimberly is currently focusing all her intensity and enthusiasm on running NannyCare Connections full-time, with her business partner Amanda Marsh. Kimberly’s outside interests include yoga and reading.
